It is with profound reverence and an ineffable sense of honour that I assume the august office of Principal of Nalanda College, Biharsharif — a hallowed institution whose luminous past is entwined with the very genesis of modern education in the ancient land of Bihar. Founded in 1870, this venerable seat of learning, standing in spiritual proximity to the immortal ruins of the ancient University of Nalanda, continues to embody the undying flame of enlightenment that once illuminated the world.
To be entrusted with the stewardship of such an institution is both a privilege and a solemn duty. Nalanda College, through its long and illustrious journey, has nurtured generations of scholars, thinkers, and visionaries who have carried forth its ideals of intellectual integrity, moral rectitude, and social commitment. As I join this distinguished fraternity, it is my earnest resolve to preserve the sanctity of its tradition while guiding it towards the ever-evolving horizons of contemporary academia.
My own journey in the realm of letters has been one of sustained devotion to scholarship and pedagogy. Having been engaged in the teaching of English literature for more than three decades at Women’s College, Samastipur, under L. N. Mithila University, I have endeavoured to cultivate in young minds the love of language, the grace of expression, and the spirit of inquiry. Presently, as Principal of Nalanda College, I perceive my role not merely as an administrator but as a custodian of intellectual and ethical heritage.
Over the years, I have been privileged to contribute to the world of letters through twenty-nine volumes, published by Atlantic Publishers & Distributors (P) Ltd., New Delhi, encompassing diverse spheres of literary and critical discourse. My participation in numerous national and international conferences, as well as my editorial engagements — notably as Chief Editor of The Atlantic Literary Review, The Atlantic Review of Feminist Studies, and The Atlantic Critical Review — have deepened my conviction that knowledge must ever remain in dialogue with culture, conscience, and creativity.
As I take the helm of this noble institution, my vision is to see Nalanda College ascend to newer pinnacles of excellence — to become not merely a repository of learning but a crucible of character, where intellect and imagination coalesce in the service of humanity. It shall be our collective endeavour to:
Nurture an ecosystem of academic rigour and reflective thought, harmonising the classical with the contemporary.
Foster interdisciplinary research and global collaborations, thereby aligning the college with the finest traditions of liberal education.
Infuse the teaching-learning process with technological innovation, while retaining the warmth of the humanistic spirit.
Encourage our students to be torchbearers of ethical leadership, ecological awareness, and cultural harmony.
In consonance with the founding ideals of Nalanda College — which exalts the pursuit of truth (Satya), wisdom (Jnana), and service (Seva) — it is my heartfelt aspiration to rekindle in our scholars that ancient Nalanda spirit: the insatiable yearning for knowledge, the humility of learning, and the grace of sharing.
Together with my esteemed colleagues, devoted staff, and the ever-curious young minds who constitute the soul of this institution, I pledge to steer Nalanda College towards a resplendent future — one that harmoniously weds heritage and modernity, discipline and creativity, tradition and transformation.
May Nalanda College continue to shine as a sanctuary of scholarship and virtue, echoing through time as a living testament to the eternal quest for enlightenment that once made this soil sacred to seekers of wisdom across the world.
With warm regards and renewed dedication,
